Efter genomgången grundutbildning finns möjlighet till forskarstudier på grundutbildningsorterna. Dessa forskarstudier leder fram till en licentiat- eller doktorsexamen i ämnet logopedi.
Logopeder kan naturligtvis även bedriva forskarstudier inom angränsande ämnesområden såsom till exempel lingvistik, fonetik, neurologi eller pediatrik. Här är några exempel på doktorsavhandlingar som skrivits av logopeder:
